The CEDIA Smart Home Awards programme celebrates excellence within the smart home technology industry – recognising the outstanding achievements of CEDIA members who represent the highest standard of innovation, quality, and craftsmanship.
This global platform rewards our members’ work whilst providing them with the recognition and tools to elevate their businesses and the wider industry.
Through the awards, CEDIA aims to enhance the visibility of the smart home professional community, building awareness of the association's role in advancing the industry to the market and adjacent trades.
“These awards are vital for our industry and drive innovation, inspiring integrators to explore new possibilities and elevate their craft. Each year, the competition sets a higher standard, showcasing what is possible when technology and creativity come together. For us, earning these awards has highlighted our growth and solidified our position in the field. As well as the recognition from the industry, it’s also given us the ability to show clients and architects that attention to detail, and time spent on it, pays off.
“For those considering entering the CEDIA Smart Home Awards, my advice would be to approach the process with care and creativity,” continues Zak. “Take the time to prepare thorough documentation and present your work in a way that highlights its unique qualities. The effort is worthwhile, as it not only showcases your achievements but also reinforces your commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for your clients.”
For 2025, we have introduced and rebranded a number of categories. These updates reflect changes in the market and ensures the scheme is appealing to a wider cross section of our membership.
Let’s take a look at some of the new and rebranded categories in more detail.
The Best Entertainment Space category celebrates true home entertainment. A winning entry should demonstrate technical excellence in all aspects of design, installation layout, and engineering whilst meeting all applicable industry standards. The finished room should deliver exceptional performance and provide a truly immersive experience for the homeowner.
The Best Single Room Solution category welcomes projects that serve multiple purposes and should be adaptable to support the client’s lifestyle. The room may be an open plan space and can include areas such as a media room, games room, bathroom, kitchen, or bar, etc. A winning entry should demonstrate technical excellence in all aspects of design and installation while meeting all applicable industry performance standards.
Projects entering the Best Outdoor Space category can serve multiple purposes and be adaptable to support the client’s outdoor lifestyle. This could include audio visual, lighting, security and/or networking. A winning entry should demonstrate technical excellence in all aspects of design and installation while meeting all applicable industry performance standards.
On hearing about this new category, Alex Jones, Director of Potters Home Digital and The Smart Home Garden commented: “We are thrilled to see the introduction of the Best Outdoor Space category in the 2025 CEDIA Smart Home Awards. Outdoor installations are an exciting and fast-growing segment of the industry, and this category perfectly aligns with the way we see technology evolving to enhance clients' lifestyles. From immersive audio-visual setups to smart lighting and robust networking, outdoor spaces now algin and even rival the functionality and sophistication of indoor environments. We look forward to seeing the innovative projects this category will undoubtedly inspire and are excited to be part of a scheme that continues to celebrate and push the boundaries of our industry.”
A winning entry will demonstrate a high level of expertise in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of high-performance systems in a residential environment. The recipient of this award will be selected from either direct entries or from a submission into a “Best” category.
Chhaya Landschultz, Director at IndigoZest was excited to find out about this new category. “I am very pleased to hear that Networking has its own spotlight for this year’s awards. We at IndigoZest cannot stress the importance of networking and know that it is the fundamental foundation for a robust smart home system. It offers stability, security, longevity and the ability to support our customers better. A solid network forms the basis of every smart home that we build, regardless of the scale of the solution so this is a welcomed addition and one that will absolutely encourage us to submit an entry. It will also help highlight the importance within the industry and in turn, to the end user.”
A winning entry will demonstrate a high level of expertise in the design of electrical subsystems that complement integrated technology solutions. Entries are expected to present detailed documentation and information surrounding the mitigation of electrical hazards. Successful entries must comply with local electrical codes and standards. Direct submissions only.
Ben Pratt, Owner of White Onyx will be taking a closer look at this category when entries open. “It's refreshing to see CEDIA looking at the industry from a wider point of view as it's such an important part of the industry that needed to be placed under the spotlight. A well designed and implemented electrical installation is the foundation of any smart home, lighting, and audio system. Without power, we have no working technology! Hopefully this encourages those who place a focus on their electrical element to get involved in the scheme, I know I will!”
Entries into this category will demonstrate the potential to excel in various aspects of business, including operational excellence, customer satisfaction, innovative approaches, and sustainable growth. Entries must meet the following eligibility criteria:
