As there’s a wide range of roles within the industry, how much money you can make will depend on the job you undertake. Whether you’re a home automation installer, an intelligent lighting technician, a security system specialist, or a smart home generalist, your salary will also depend on your certifications and the projects you work on.
In this article, we’ll explore the different project sizes across the industry and the average salaries for Smart Home Professional roles.
Our UK and US market studies found that project sizes vary from small-scale projects to high-end full smart home installations. The median project size for US businesses was approximately $15,000. UK businesses came in significantly higher at approximately £23,000.

Our 2023 wage report found that a systems designer earned an average salary of $74,068 in the US and £38,000 in the UK, rising 3.8% in a year.
