A theatre built for entertaining large numbers, with seating for up to 20 guests and a 24x10-foot screen as the room's centerpiece. The client wanted a powerful "wow" moment on entry, deep bass you can feel, and full sound containment so the theatre's noise wouldn't bleed into the rest of the home—all wrapped in a high-end aesthetic complete with a dedicated concessions area.
Wall studs were isolated from the foundation and trusses with rubber isolators, Rockwool insulation was used throughout, and subflooring was isolated using the Kinetics Noise Control system with 1.5-pound mass-loaded vinyl and Quiet Rock drywall on isolated track.
A Barco Njord projector was mounted behind the back wall and above the concessions ceiling, with the screen mounted to a false wall that also concealed the front stage speakers and subwoofers.
A James Power Pipe 15-inch subwoofer was suspended under the theatre and ported through the tiered floor riser to deliver low-frequency impact while the Storm Audio processor was calibrated with Dirac to maintain balance.
Speakers were hidden behind stretch track fabric, with exact placement determined using Acoustic Innovations' design software.
