Poor acoustics, inadequate ventilation, and ongoing issues meant the room was uncomfortable and rarely used. When the homeowners decided to revisit the idea, their priority was clear: the space had to feel healthy, calm, and inviting, not dark or oppressive.
Wavetrain Cinemas approached the project by rethinking what a cinema room could be. Instead of leaning into traditional heavy finishes and enclosed design, the team created a light, breathable space using timber flooring, removable fabrics, and carefully engineered airflow. The result is a room that delivers true cinematic performance while also functioning as a place to relax, unwind, and even practise yoga, making it one of the most versatile and personally meaningful cinemas the homeowners have ever used.
A new HVAC system introduces filtered, dehumidified fresh air, preventing moisture buildup and supporting a healthy environment
Light-toned timber, curved slatted panels, and softer lighting created a space that feels relaxed rather than enclosed.
Oversized ducts, low-velocity airflow, and pressure relief ensure the room remains extremely quiet in use.
The system is programmed to run automatically when the home is empty, maintaining air quality even while away.
