A complete gut renovation of a 3,600 sq ft Fort Lauderdale waterfront condominium, rebuilt from bare walls with a Crestron-controlled backbone spanning 19 zones and nine subsystems - all designed around one requirement: the clients should never need to call for help.
We built the technology infrastructure alongside the construction team, starting with a Cisco enterprise-grade network: dual-WAN router, PoE smart switches, and Ruckus access points covering the full floor plate and both outdoor terraces. The network was VLAN-segmented from day one, with Crestron control traffic, NVX audio/video distribution, and guest access each running in complete isolation.
Nine subsystems were brought under a single Crestron backbone: AV distribution, surround sound, distributed audio, motorized shading, motorized drapery, architectural lighting, climate, security, and surveillance. Control runs through Horizon keypads and 10.1" touchscreens in every zone, with handheld remotes and voice control in the main living areas.
Design decisions carried as much weight as technical ones. The living room anchors around an 85" 8K QLED. The kitchen and office received Samsung The Frame - displays that present artwork when not in use and mount flush to the wall with no visible gap.
Sonance Discreet Opening System architectural speakers were installed prior to drywall throughout the residence, invisible after finish. Motorized shade U-channels were recessed directly into walls and floors, so no hardware is visible when shades retract. When the screens are off and the shades are up, there is no visible technology anywhere in the residence.
The dining terrace was wired to receive the living room display video via NVX and drive the terrace speakers independently, so the clients can take audio and video outside without changing anything inside.
The system commissioned to full operation across all 19 zones. No manual required.
