A mother of young children, inspired by a home cinema she'd seen at a friend's house, wanted to recreate that experience using the only space available: an unused basement luggage storage room with a low, unmovable ceiling due to standard Peruvian concrete construction. Her non-negotiable requirement was that every single speaker be in-wall, with nothing visible or protruding, while still delivering high-quality audio and video in a polished, intentional space.
A drywall separation layer was built along the perimeter walls to create the cavity needed for in-wall speaker installation and acoustic paneling, since concrete walls couldn't accommodate speakers directly.
A Dolby True HD 7.2 configuration was chosen over Atmos after evaluating the ceiling clearance, since overhead or ceiling-angled speakers weren't viable without compromising headroom.
Paradigm front-fire subwoofers were selected specifically because their firing direction and form factor allowed them to be fully concealed inside a custom cabinet built beneath the screen.
The air conditioning unit was installed laterally within the wall instead, with custom elongated grilles designed specifically for the project to resolve airflow needs while preserving ceiling height.
