The Loft - Media Room Level I finalist, EMEA, 2023

A stunning Middle Eastern tradition inspired room provides a space for relaxation and entertainment within a luxury residence in Pakistan. 

The submerged seating layout, which diff ers considerably from traditional theatre-style seating, presented a number of challenges in order to deliver multi-direction viewing angles and optimal listening experience.

A 120-inch ALR screen from Vivid Storm, with acoustically transparent black drop, ensures fl uent sound sound transmission and counters dispersion from the front speakers. The screen housing has been placed within an artificial ledge, built across the entire floor, to raise its height. This serves to achieve the desired viewing angle for the seating area. A motorised, tensioned bracket system confi rms the screen is flat and rigid ,to avoid any vibrations. 

The room is also equipped with a 7.1.2 Atmos surround sound system and an ultra-short throw ChiQ projector. A combination of absorption and diffusion techniques were employed to achieve the desired acoustic balance and optimal immersive cinematic experience. A stunning, designer “ping pong” table, made of glass, provides the focal point in the rear of the room. Additional absorption panels were applied on either side of the area to mitigate any negative impact on the overall sound quality. 

Two linear diff used ceiling coves run across the room to give it a cinematic feel, while roll-up blackout shades further improve picture quality during daytime viewing. The designer Vicoustic Wavewood acoustic panels on the walls are highlighted with asymmetric light sources and add to the overall ambiance.
