RR Cinema was envisioned as the emotional centerpiece of a basement transformation, created for a homeowner with a lifelong passion for movies, superheroes, and immersive experiences. Rather than building a conventional home theater, the client wanted a space that felt theatrical, expressive, and unmistakably his, somewhere friends and family would remember long after the credits rolled.

MCBEE took full ownership of the project, managing everything from concept and interior design to technical execution. Using detailed renderings and a full VR walkthrough, the team helped the client visualize every detail before construction began. The result is a bold, highly customized cinema that blends reference-level performance with personality, comfort, and showmanship.

Maximum seating was needed in a basement with limited height

The front section of the room was excavated to create a sunken first row, allowing three seating rows without compromising sightlines.

A dramatic entrance sequence, themed lighting, and a visible glass-enclosed rack were designed as part of the experience.

The client wanted extreme immersion without visible technology

All speakers, acoustics, and cabling were concealed behind custom fabric and architectural surfaces.

Dolby Atmos Experience: A high-channel surround sound layout delivers enveloping audio with consistent performance across all three seating rows.

Large-format Cinematic Projection: A high-brightness laser projector paired with a large screen creates a bold, impactful image designed for serious movie watching.

Custom Luxury Recliners: Bespoke seating includes heating, ventilation, memory settings, and tactile motion feedback, adding a physical dimension to action scenes.

Showpiece Equipment Rack: Unlike most cinemas, the rack was intentionally displayed behind motorized glass, lit and styled as part of the room’s visual identity.

Immersive lighting design: Thousands of fiber-optic points, pixel lighting, and dynamic cove lighting allow the room to shift instantly between cinema, music, and ambient modes.

One-touch Control: Lighting, audio, video, seating, and climate are all triggered through simple scenes, keeping the experience effortless for guests.
