A comprehensive home automation system which enhances lifestyle and achieves energy efficiency and resilience.
The requirement was for a high level of automation system control in a large residence in London. The owner wanted their home to be able to react to its environment and automatically make adjustments; to optimise comfort and cost effi ciency. The solution is based around a KNX system, which integrates all core services, ana a combination of internal and external sensors.
The water system, which provides hot water for showers and baths can adjust the temperature and heating schedule based on usage patterns and preferences. Similarly, the heating system maintains a comfortable temperature based on pre-set preference and historical usage. A ventilation system ensures optimal air quality by circulating fresh and removing stale air, and also detects humidity levels to prevent moisture build up and mould growth.
The integrator has also added features which protect both the occupiers and the property itself. Security cameras with motion detection send alerts to a phone or other device while security images can be viewed on any TV throughout the house.
Sensors identify leaks in the plumbing system and can shut off the water supply to prevent damage to the home, while the fireplace can detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
There are environmental benefits too, in particular energy savings, as the lights can be set to turn off or on at certain times of the day and communal rooms have PIR which automatically switch lights on for a determined amount of time.
