SMC provided a comprehensive but easy-to-use home automation system for a 5-storey family home in Holland Park. Crestron was selected to integrate control of HVAC, security, lighting/shading, and AV. One of the highlights of the property is an entertainment space which replicates the client’s favourite club. To achieve the immersive sound performance of a professional venue, a 25 channel L-Acoustics Creations sound system has been installed with a Dante controller, which allows the client to use his DJ equipment anywhere in the room.

Lutron’s Timeclock provides smart, energy saving control of lighting and window treatments. At sunset, the external lights are switched on and the blinds close, with the opposite at sunrise. During the colder months, the blinds raise during the day to capture warmth from the sun and close when it has gone to preserve heat. The roofl ights have built-in rain sensors and automatically close if rain is detected.

The integrator has introduced features which facilitate management of this large house. If there is an issue with any of the HVAC systems, the owner is notifi ed via an alert to the Crestron touchscreens. Using PIRs when activity is not detected within the main entertainment spaces, the rooms will default to standby mode. As part of a grade 3 intruder alarm system, integrated motorised Abloy locks provide extra protection for the family, as doors can be locked via Crestron. A “holiday mode” triggers macros within Crestron to turn all systems to a predefined setting.
