They specified D-Box motion seating from day one, wanted the largest screen the room could support, required extreme sound isolation so the rest of the household could function normally, and needed the room to integrate seamlessly into the estate's classical Italian architecture, including honed Port Laurent Black marble and custom walnut detailing.
The brief also called for DCI compliance to support future commercial-grade content.
Audio Images (Henry's Audio Visual Solutions) partnered with Anthony Grimani's PMI Engineering team to build the room around a Grimani Systems CinemaOne 17.8.8 immersive package and a 32,000-lumen Barco Nerthus projector feeding a 236-inch Stewart masking screen.
The 1,300-pound screen frame and eight subwoofer cabinets were installed twenty-two months before completion so the marble, hand-carved walnut, and surrounding finishes could be built directly around the acoustic geometry, letting the finished room read as integrated architecture rather than equipment with decoration layered on top.
A room-within-a-room-within-a-room construction reached STC 55 and an NC10 noise floor.
A separate 6x10 timber frame carried the marble's weight without compromising decoupling.
Both were delivered and installed in stages with custom handling.
The projector was suspended on spring hangers tuned to roughly 3 Hz, well below the ceiling's flex range.
