As dawn breaks, the first light of day gently caresses the Sydney skyline where Tower One of One Sydney Harbour emerges, a striking example of seamless integration of luxury, innovation, and sustainability in urban living. This architectural triumph, designed by the visionaries at PTW Architects and constructed with precision by builder Lendlease, is a collaborative effort with lighting by Electrolight, setting new benchmarks in the realm of multiple dwelling units.

One Sydney Harbour's narrative extends beyond its physical structure to the advanced lifestyle it offers its residents. This prominent tower, part of the expansive redevelopment of Barangaroo's shoreline, is a showcase of international design excellence, influenced by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. Within its walls are 313 smart homes, each an epitome of comfort, convenience, and connected living.

The project's success is significantly attributed to the integrator, Kayder, who ensured each residence was equipped with a comprehensive smart home experience. Residents enjoy a life where lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), shade control, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, and intercom systems are effortlessly managed at their fingertips. The residences feature the Crestron Home OS4, an advanced platform that elevates the living experience by offering seamless control over the environment. The inclusion of smart home features like façade blinds for daylight harvesting and automated schedules for heating and cooling prioritises both comfort and sustainability.

The ambitions of One Sydney Harbour were lofty yet precisely realised. The project aimed to redefine luxury living while embedding sustainability and community at its core. By integrating cutting-edge technologies, the building minimises energy consumption and maximises natural light, offering a connected, curated living experience. Kayder’s approach to this challenge was informed by a profound understanding of the intricate balance between customer experience, cost, and implementation complexity. Their vision was realised in a living environment that prioritises convenience, comfort, and sustainability.

Each apartment is equipped with the Crestron Home OS, serving as the central command, providing unparalleled control and convenience. The integration includes Crestron processors, 10-inch touch panels, Horizon keypads, and mobile app connectivity, simplifying home management. Features such as motorised curtains, heated towel rails, and underfloor heating systems are synchronised for seamless operation, enhancing the residential experience. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based intercom service, managed through Crestron touch panels, adds a layer of security and communication, efficiently connecting residents with the front desk concierge and managing guest access.

The communal spaces within the tower are equally advanced, with lighting and building services managed by Crestron custom processors and occupancy sensors. This cohesive system ensures that the entire complex operates as an integrated ecosystem, offering scalability and customisability for future enhancements. The Crestron myDNS service facilitates monitoring and maintenance, ensuring system integrity and performance.

Despite facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdowns and disruptions in the supply chain, plus design changes that added complexity, Kayder’s strategic project management, pre-ordering, and collaboration with the Crestron Australia team ensured the project’s successful completion. A dedicated on-site team and the Crestron myDNS service were crucial in maintaining timelines and addressing feature requests.
