This training course is designed for individuals aiming to advance their careers through a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of systems integration. With a focus on specific applications for smart home technology installation and configuration, this training provides you with the foundational knowledge to begin working as an integrated systems technician with minimal supervision.
During this 5-day course, you will learn the best practices for home cinema and media room installation and gain the knowledge and skills to implement lighting control protocols into a system design. You will also learn and practice how to configure a typical router and correctly set up a secure Wi-Fi network, as well as the best practices for control system commissioning. Additionally, you will explore some of the project and business processes you can expect to be involved in as a technician, as well as the terminology and phases you’ll encounter on an on-site project.
CEDIA’s certified subject matter experts will share a vast amount of technical knowledge with you and will be on hand to support you through your learning. Across the five days, you will participate in hands-on activities designed to give you a feel for those on-the-job tasks.
This training is the perfect next step for individuals who have already completed CEDIA's Smart Home Technician Essentials training, or who already hold CIT Certification and are looking to move onto more intermediate subjects. Additionally, the course is suitable for technicians who already have several years' experience on the job and would like to sit formal training.

This course will provide attendees with the essential skills required to install a standards compliant home cinema or media room. The workshop style of this course means every student will learn in a hands-on manner. The day includes the building of a modest home cinema including typical audio and video components.
Once the basic home cinema is complete each student will try their hand at configuring the basic audio setup of a typical AV Receiver and go on to basic video calibration of the display using test materials.

Simon works as a consultant and trainer across the globe. With a strong focus on low voltage services design, KNX, BMS and Part L compliance for both M&E consultants and residential clients alike Simon provides design services to the industry. Simon also works as a lead instructor for CEDIA EMEA.
Simon moved into the hi-fi industry via Grahams HiFi in north London. He has spent thirty-six years in the custom install business, starting as an Installation Engineer and moving to Installation Manager at the world-renowned hi-fi specialists, Linn Product. Simon spent seventeen years at one of London’s leading design consultancy as a systems designer, programmer, and Technical Director.

With over 30 years of experience in AV, Geoff is one of the most skilled instructors in the industry. He holds all CEDIA certifications, ISF, HAA and Microsoft accreditations and is a specialist in Audio / Video and IP networking. He’s been teaching in AV for nearly twenty years, in both the UK and overseas. To date, he has led classes on six continents.
Geoff’s expertise is called upon for CEDIA awards judging, where he has served as Technical Judge for the last thirteen years, and as Chairman of the awards judging committee for the last seven.
Having started as a technical marketing apprentice with Dutch giant Philips, he went on to work in recording studios as an engineer before landing at AV manufacturer Arcam in the mid 1990s. While there he worked in technical training, brand management and export sales. He managed the US and Canadian markets at the time of the home cinema market’s birth and contributed heavily to Arcam’s product strategy.
